Elizabeth Emens, JD, Ph.D., is an Isidor and Seville Sulzbacher Professor of Law at Columbia Law School. She earned her JD and BA from Yale University and her Ph.D. in English from King’s College, Cambridge, where she studied as a Marshall Scholar. 

She is the author of Life Admin: How I Learned to Do Less, Do Better, and Live More, (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt 2019)—published in the UK as The Art of Life Admin: How to Do Less, Do It Better, Live More (Viking 2019).

Emens has published articles in the Wall Street Journal, Harvard Law ReviewStanford Law ReviewHastings Center ReportNomosNarrativeThe Disability Studies ReaderKeywords in Disability Studies, and many others. In 2013, she co-edited a volume on Disability and Equality Law with Michael Ashley Stein (Ashgate Press).
